Bangladesh, an alluvial and deltaic land of 147,570 square km, is prone to various natural disasters such as cyclones, floods, and droughts (Ahmad et al., 2001). The total population is about 130 million. The people of this country are still overburdened with various infectious diseases and ailments due to malnutrition. Unfortunately one more environmental hazard from geological sources – arsenic contamination of groundwater above the World Magnitude of Arsenic Toxicity in Tube-well Drinking Water in Bangladesh and Its Adverse Effects on Human Health Including Cancer: Evidence from a Review of the Literature
